Skylar Alexis Corvin
Skylar Alexis Corvin was granted her angel wings on June 2, 2009, following her five year battle
with bone cancer. Skylar spent her final days on earth surrounded by friends and loved ones
that were grateful to have their hearts touched by her. Even though she was here with us a
short thirteen years, the memories she created will last a lifetime.
Skylar's life would seem so short to many, but those who were touched by her spirit totally
understood that quality, not quantity, was time well spent. Skylar believed that smiles could
fix the world and laughter was the best medicine

Even though Skylar had a serious disease, she made the best of everything. She possessed
an amazing strength, and an incredible courage that most adults will never have. She always had a positive outlook, and accepted the bad with the good. Skylar always felt that the bad times
were just "speed bumps" in the road of life.
With Skylar's passing, we are reminded how life is to be celebrated, not mourned. Although
we will miss her every single day, she will never be forgotten. She has taught us so many life lessons, and how important it is to make every moment count.
Skylar leaves behind many wonderful doctors, nurses, and caregivers that have helped her along her journey. Skylar's love extends to our wonderful hospice staff, the nurses on the 11th floor peds at Roanoke Memorial, the Pediatric Oncology Clinic, the Radiation Oncology staff and the staff from Childrens' National Medical Center in Washington D.C. All these special people, too numerous to mention, provided Skylar with the love and dignity in her life and also in her death. We are all truly thankful for everything that they have done.
Skylar is preceeded in death by her great-grandparents Frank and Phyllis Lamb, William and Sandra King, Robert and Ruth Moses, and her grandfather Kenneth Lloyd Corvin.
Skylar is survived by her loving parents, Chris and Marcy Corvin, and by her two amazing brothers Logan and Mason Corvin. She also leaves behind her grandparents Frank and Maribeth Greenway, Eddie and Ann Bryant, and Teresa Corvin. Skylar will also be greatly missed by her uncles Matthew, Joseph, and Joshua Greenway, and her uncle Joshua Perdue. Skylar also leaves behind her aunts Melissa Greenway, Mary Andrews, and Traci Corvin. She also will be missed by her cousins Sierra, Miranda, Jayden and Jacob.
Other special people in Skylar's life include her godmother Anne Marie Hutchens, her homebound teacher Mr. B, and special friends Eric Effinger and Corey Lunsford. She will also be greatly missed by her special canine companion RudyDaBooty.
We would like to invite friends and family to a celebration of Skylar's life. Friends and family are welcome to join us at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 2pm - 3pm on Sunday June 7th. The service celebrating Skylar's life will begin at 3pm at the same location.
Skylar was a very generous and giving person, and would like her memory to benefit others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Skylar's memorial fund at "To the Benefit of Skylar Corvin". Donations will be taken at any Wachovia branch in Roanoke, Virginia.
Skylar, thanks so much for the many gifts that you have given all of us. You have touched our lives forever. You Rock!

Hello Corvins. I am from Malaysia and had watched Oprah's Big Give last nite. As I got to work this morning i went to this website. I am sorry to hear that she has left us. I have spent no time with her, but I can feel her spirit. She is super strong girl. I adore her for that. I wish her a good journey to heaven...
